ABOUT

Burnaby, BC, Canada. Dr. Christine E. Thuring is faculty, BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) School of Construction and the Environment. With a background in environmental science and biology, Christine’s work portfolio weaves together an appetite for ecological understanding with an ambition to make the world a better place. Her career began in applied plant ecology, and Christine has worked predominantly in the urban context since 1999, often on inter-disciplinary projects that relate living architecture and landscape function to multi-functional ecological design.

Christine’s PhD at the University of Sheffield granted unprecedented insights into the development of vegetation and soils on extensive green roofs more than 20-30 years after installation. This project also involved working on an EU project as part of a large, international team, which refined Christine’s skills for strategic management, effectiveness under pressure, networking, communication, and a genuine enthusiasm for new challenges.
